BCE

So my first post is inspired by the above quote, moreso the "politically correct" abbreviation.

theaginghippie is to be a roadmap of the path my life has taken and is taking as I move to the 60's. It is an idea of a colleague of mine, that we'll call Phil Whitzling (mostly because that's his name.) He playfully referred to me as 'the aging hippie that I work with' and I thought that it was a really cool name.

I'm not sure of the direction this will take, but I'll be doing reviews of the various books which inspire mind and spirit. There are a ton of books, music, videos, blogs, podcasts, et al that have and are influencing as time moves along. I intend to share them with you on a very personal level.

If you already know me, you know that I pretty much wear my heart on my sleeve, so I will be sharing a lot of the personal things that are going on, as well. I'm quite sure my four granddaughters will be mentioned often, as well as my talented two sons and wife.

I have been very open about health issues as I am getting older, hoping to educate others on the do's and dont's. I am very sure this will be a big part, too. You might want to skip following me on that road and learn from my mistakes, by the way.

So, the BCE stands for Before The Common Era, the politically correct version of BC or Before Christ. I learned something new today, Jim Valvano would be proud (look up his ESPN speech for you younger ones who don't know who he is-very inspirational.)

I do hope you'll give me a shot and follow...I promise it's an interesting ride.
